| Castor Oil Packs |
|
|
Tracee Cornforth on About.com suggests using castor oil packs which help reduce inflammation.
Have any of you tried this? How did you create your castor oil pack and apply it? Any cautions/warnings about this? Why do you think it was helpful? Have you seen any research on this? _________________ Love in Christ,

Good question. I haven't tried it. I can't see any medically logical reason why they would actually help, so I've hesitated to try it. _________________ Love in Christ,

Same here, I was reading about it, but it doesn't make much sense to me? An ice pack and a warm pack work fine for me.. |

| Castor oil... |

When my Naturopath told me to massage castor oil above the area where my cyst is at bedtime each night, all I can tell you is that even if it *wasn't* bothering me at the time, it hurt the next day!!! I understand that castor oil promotes circulation & generates extra blood flow to whatever area you put it on. I had to stop using it because it was *causing* pain even when I wasn't experiencing any!!! Yes, I realize that sometimes things get worse before they get better but, you can't walk around in pain all the time! |

I've used castor oil packs during the times that heat seems to help ease cramps. It's hard to tell if it helps anymore than just heat alone, but seems soothing. I think the heat and oil speed up the absorption of the oil and heat.
I understand that Edgar Cayce recommended it. He's a psychic who was into health and healing. I know that might not be "good enough" advice for many of you.
I guess i'm trying to say that I don't know if a castor oil pack works for sure, but I think it is *possible* that it does. |

One caution I've read with castor oil packs is to NOT use them in cases of cancer - so if you have a cyst that is even remotely suspicious and/or you're waiting to have it biopsied, I wouldn't recommend trying castor oil packs until you've had cancer ruled out. |
