| What causes an ovarian cyst? |
|
|
Up to about 5 years ago, I never dealt with an ovarian cysts but once my daughter was born, I kept getting them. A few years ago I use to get joint pain and muscle pain and the pain would go off and on. My doctor has ran tests on me for Lupus, Thyroid, and he just concluded that I have fibromyalgia. The joint pain started up right along with the cysts I keep getting on my ovaries. I get a cyst, it grows to about 4cm and then it fades away and comes back again a few months later. I have been tested for diabetes and the Dr said I had pre-diabetes. Normally I hve not missed any periods with these cyst but I did not have a period for april and I thought I was pregnant and the Dr did a transvaginal ultrasound and it came back negative for pregnancy but positive for a cyst, The cyst doesnt hurt that much but I know its there and it has caused me to gain weight and my stomach is always bloated. My moos has also changed and I find myself grumpy and sad alot. My Dr wants me to start on Provera to see if it will jump start my period. Has anyone ever used provera? I have 5 children and never had a problem conceiving so this makes me wonder if I have PCOS? I dont have medical insurance anymore so it is hard for me to just go to any doctor. Has anyone else dealt with a cyst and what causes them? I would realy like to find an herbal treatment for it. |

Ally,
Women grow cysts on their ovaries every single month. This is how they ovulate. The cysts contain our eggs and every month, one of them burst open to release the egg into the fallopian tube. If your cysts are resolving then they are normal follicular cysts and nothing to be too concerned about.
I personally was diagnosed with an 8 cm cyst on my left ovary a year and a half ago. I kept an eye on it with 6 month ultrasounds and since it was slowly growing, I had to have it removed with surgery (along with my left ovary and tube) last Tuesday. My cyst was obviously not a normal follicular cyst as it persisted over a long period of time. I am still awaiting the pathology to see what kind of cyst it is (serous, dermoid etc..).
If an ultrasound is done on a premenopausal woman, there is a strong chance that they will find a cyst as this is normal. Try to go for your ultrasound around the time of your period as I am told that this is the time the least likely to see them.
Hope this helps you a little.
All the best.

Treating Ovarian Cysts Naturally used to be Difficult and almost impossible in the Past,But now its no longer the case.
Although there are Numerous methods available to treat Ovarian Cysts like medicines, surgery but these treatments have lots of side effects which no one wants to bear.
I would like to share a Natural Treatment with all Ovarian Cysts Sufferers that i have tried myself to cure my 4.1" Ovarian cyst in less that 2 months Naturally.

Hello again,
I did check out this web-site when I was watching my cyst last year. I have to admit that I am always quite sceptical about someone who claims to be able to "cure" all ovarian cysts with 100% effectiveness only if I buy a book or a supplement or whatever.
I did ask someone else here if the book was a hoax because there are a lot of spelling mistakes and poor grammar on the site which made me think that someone was out to get my money. This person, who had bought the book, replied and said that like the site, the book was poorly written and it basically gave advice that I had already tried.
I have never worn makeup, eat nothing but organic non processed food, exercise, maintain a healthy weight, don't take birth control pills or any other medication and I take vitamin supplements. I also use paraben free soaps, shampoos and detergents without methyl laurel sulphates (and phospates). I am as "all natural" as you can get and my very large cyst not only persisted but it got bigger over time.
Most cysts will disappear on their own because women are meant to grow these cysts on their ovaries every month. They naturally come and go and it's a natural part of a woman's body. Some cysts, however, will persist and some do have to be removed with surgery. Non functional, neoplastic cysts (serous, mucinous, some hemorraghic, dermoids etc..) have a strong chance of persisting, especially if they are large. Some are harmless and surgery may not be necessary .. but others may pose a threat, either due to their increasing size or due to their unknown cellular makeup.
Believe me, I would have done anything to avoid having surgery to remove this thing but sometimes we need to weigh our options and risks and to make the best decision for our health. Despite everything that I did, my cyst kept growing until it was almost 9 cms. If I had waited any longer, I would not only have had to have surgery eventually but it would have been in the form of a laparotomy rather than a laparoscopy. This would have meant greater risk, a longer hospital stay and a much longer and more painful recovery.
One cannot say that there is a cure for everyone. This is impossible as we all have different situations. I do believe that you should maintain yourself in the best of shape as possible so that you can avoid health problems altogether or have your body take care of it BUT sometimes medical intervention is necessary.
That's my two cents !

I was diagnosed with an 8cm cyst on one ovary and several other smaller ones. I will be having a hysterectomy on March 24th and hopefully only lose the one ovary but keep my other one so that I do not go into early menopause. A bit nervous about all of it but hopefully only cysts and nothing more serious. I guess we will find out after the biopsy results after the hysterectomy. |

Kimmi,
Why on earth are you having a hysterectomy for an ovarian cyst ?! Do you also have a problem with your uterus ?
If what you have is only the cyst on the ovary then it is definitely not necessary to have your uterus removed.
Ovarian cysts can be removed by laparoscopy and if the doctor has determined that the cyst has completely destroyed your ovary, the ovary can be removed at the same time. This is a one hour outpatient procedure. If you are young, they can try a bit harder to preserve the ovary rather than taking it out with the cyst. In the right hands, this is possible most of the time.
A hysterectomy is a much more serious procedure and if you don't need a hyst then you certainly should not have one. If you feel that your doctor is doing unnecessary extra surgery then get a second opinion. There are still far too many gynecologists who perform hysterectomies at the drop of a hat these days.
Of course if it is necessary then it's necessary.
Take care of yourself.

I have been having other problems as well for a couple of years. Because of the combined problems and the look of a few things we have decided to remove it all to be sent for biopsy. I am about to be 40 and am done having children, so fine if I no longer have to deal with a menstral cycle, especially seeing as how I usually have 2 a month! Like I said a bit nervous about everything, the surgery, biopsy ect but in the end the best course of action. |

Hello,
In that case then I am sure that you are having the right procedure for the right reason. Sometimes a hysterectomy is necessary and it is good to know that we can live just fine without the uterus if we have to.
I am sure you will be so glad to have news that all is well after the surgery. Try not to be too anxious. You will be in great hands and the hospital staff will take great care of you. I know I was extremely impressed with the excellent people I had taking care of me. They all knew exactly what to do and were ever so nice.
Having surgery is difficult because we are not in control of the situation. At some point you will have to hand it over to your doctor and trust him or her to take care of you. You will be just fine. Think of how great it will be to be rid of the symptoms that you are having presently.
All the best for a super speedy recovery. Come back and let us know how everything went and how you are doing.
((HUGS))
